Australia’s Alarming Rise in Antisemitism: Hatred in Words and Actions

The past two years have seen a disturbing increase in antisemitic incidents across Australia, with attacks becoming more targeted and violent. From graffiti to arson, these acts of hate against Jews and Israel reveal a chilling agenda. The perpetrators have often left clear evidence of their motives, yet the Albanese Government’s response has been limited to verbal condemnations, with little meaningful action to protect Jewish communities.

Albanese is awkward and confused when pressured by the Australian Jewish Community to outline some tangible, direct actions that his Government is taking to protect us from antisemitic acts of humiliation, threats, abuse and explosions.

This is a man who in 1999, helped co-found the Parliamentary Friends of Palestine. There are countless examples since that time of Albanese being vehemently opposed to actions taken by the State of Israel against Palestinian extremists, including Hamas.

Albanese sees the Middle East through a lopsided master-servant lens. His default stance is that the State of Israel are the aggressor and the Palestinians are the long-suffering victims. This has seen him moving away from Australia’s longheld support for the State of Israel in the United Nations.

Albanese continues to taking a morally bankrupt stance by simply accepting the aggressive pro-Palestine protests that have become a regular fixture for weekend city goers in Melbourne.

The situation continues to get worse by the day. Here are some examples of antisemitic incidents in Australia more recently, and the words of hate associated with such targeted acts of antisemitism.

Woollahra Arson and Graffiti Attack (January 2025):

In Sydney’s Woollahra suburb, three buildings were defaced with antisemitic graffiti, including phrases such as “Free Palestine” and “Death to Israel,” before a stolen car was set alight. The hateful messaging left Jewish residents fearing for their safety and highlighted the need for a stronger governmental response.

Maroubra Daycare Firebombing (January 2025):

A daycare attended by many Jewish children in Maroubra was firebombed, with graffiti reading “Israel = Apartheid” and “No Jewish kids safe here.” This terrifying attack targeted both the Jewish community and their youngest members, underscoring the growing threat of antisemitism.

Dover Heights Vehicle Arson (January 2025):

Vehicles in Dover Heights, a suburb with a large Jewish population, were set on fire and vandalised with swastikas and the phrase “Kill the Zionists.” The perpetrators’ intentions were unmistakable, yet the Albanese Government has failed to introduce effective measures to combat such targeted acts of hate.

Melbourne Neo-Nazi Rally (October 2024):

Neo-Nazis brazenly gathered on the steps of Victoria’s Parliament, performing Hitler salutes and chanting slogans such as “Jews will not replace us” and “Zionism is terrorism.” This display of hatred was condemned by many, but the lack of legislative action has left Jewish communities feeling unsupported.

Josh Burns MP office vandalized (June 2024):

The St Kilda office of federal Labor MP Josh Burns was vandalized in a politically motivated attack. The perpetrators smashed windows, spray-painted slogans including “Zionism is Fascism” on the walls, and set small fires outside the building, causing significant damage.

Brisbane Jewish Cemetery Desecration (2023):

In a heinous act of vandalism, dozens of gravestones in a Jewish cemetery were defaced with swastikas and the words “Jews out.” The desecration of such a sacred space sent shockwaves through the Jewish community and reinforced the urgency for stronger protections.

Government Inaction

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s government has condemned these incidents but has failed to act decisively. Calls for tougher hate crime legislation, mandatory minimum sentences for offenders, and increased security funding for Jewish institutions have been ignored, leaving the Jewish community vulnerable to further attacks.

A Path to Stronger Leadership

Australia needs decisive leadership to confront this rising tide of antisemitism. During his previous presidency, Donald Trump took significant action to combat antisemitism and demonstrated unwavering support for Jewish communities.

Australia must follow Trump’s example, with policies that ensure the safety of Jewish Australians and harsh consequences for those who perpetrate hate. Words are no longer enough—it’s time for real action.

Look to federal politicians with true conviction such as Peter Dutton and Pauline Hanson for genuine commitment to tackling this complex issue head on. The sooner the Australian political landscape rids itself of the gruesome twosome (Labor and the Greens), the safer us Jews will be.

  1. We now have a dangerous racial crisis in Australia. Tougher laws and penalties are urgently needed. Where are they?
Albanese must go. He is all words and no action concerning antisemitism.
Albanese does not want to upset his “vote bank” in western Sydney…..

  2. Following the stance of Australian state governments during the Covid crisis it is hard to comprehend their lack of action on antisemitic events and similar purposeful provocation.
I find the above photo of Holocaust graffiti intolerable and cannot believe that this offensiveness was committed in my country.
To those who ask what are we going to do about it? Wait calmly for the upcoming federal election, then you shall see the start of what will become of those who wish to commit those crimes, and the effect of questioning the patriotism and moral clarity of real Australians.
Do not mistake the friendliness and relaxed fabric of my world-leading, wonderful, and tolerant country as a weakness to be exploited.
If this comment has resonated unreasonably with you, then you should consider your stance on the above and, maybe, how you should conduct yourself peaceably going forward. Alternatively, you should consider if the fabric and values of my perpetually multi-cultural country make it a suitable home for you going forward.
    Happy Australia Day!

  3. Albanese and the Greens must be voted last. This toxic Satanic combination must go but people must never forget!
Where are Albanese’s tougher laws to combat antisemitism and provision for better security? $600,000,000 for a rugby team was more important to him.
Now a “National Holocaust Education Centre” will be established in Canberra. Hmmmm, is this meant to deliver protection through awareness? This is nothing but an insulting token gesture that will do nothing to help the Jewish community, but fills in time and makes out that Albanese is doing something. He is doing nothing nor does he wish to do anything productive. His friends are the adversaries of Israel.
